‘There’s No Food Shortage In Ghana; It’s Only Expensive’ – Agric Minister

There’s No Food Shortage In Ghana
Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Ghana’s Food and Agriculture Minister, denied rumors of a food shortage.
The Minister contended that external causes like an increase in imported chemicals caused food prices to rise,
not Ghana’s policies.
Dr. Afriyie Akoto spoke with MOFA officials and farmers in the Eastern Region.
He claimed the administration headed by Akufo Addo was cutting manufacturing costs notwithstanding
external circumstances.
Dr. Afriyie Akoto says the state wants to force banks to lend to farmers to enhance productivity.
